Schöneberg ● Highlights Tour
Explore the district once home to Marlene Dietrich and David Bowie. During the Cold War, Schöneberg was the political center of West Berlin's American sector. We’ll visit the Rathaus Schöneberg, where JFK delivered his famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech.
We’ll stroll through the “Rote Insel” (Red Island), a former left-wing enclave turned desirable neighborhood. Then we’ll stop by the Kammergericht, Berlin’s supreme court, and visit the former site of the Berlin Sportpalast, where Joseph Goebbels delivered his infamous “Total War” speech. We’ll also explore Nollendorfplatz, the heart of Berlin’s historic gay quarter and once home to Christopher Isherwood, whose work writing inspired Cabaret.
Enjoy local culinary highlights, including a charming chocolate shop. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the tour concludes at the lively Winterfeldtplatz farmers’ market.

Schöneberg ● Jewish Heritage
In the early 20th century, many assimilated Jewish families left Berlin's smoggy city center for the Bavarian Quarter, often called “Jewish Switzerland.” Our tour includes the impactful “Wir Waren Nachbarn” (We Were Neighbors) exhibition at Rathaus Schöneberg, showcasing personal albums of Jewish intellectuals who lived here. We’ll also track down the sites of former residences of notable figures like Albert Einstein and Erich Fromm and explore the “Places of Remembrance Memorial,” which features 80 signs highlighting the Nazi decrees that systematically persecuted the Jewish community.
